At the 2019 edition of the Independence parade organized by the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, Faith Presby School were declared winners at their first attempt. They went nuts, jumping in ecstasy to welcome the announcement.
The winners told Ghanaeducationnews.net and Newsghana24.com could not hide their joy. They received for their efforts, certificates, books and other educational materials and the chance to have two pupils of the school travel to Dubai, with all expenses paid.
The Faith Presby School is located at Shiashie in East Legon and is owned by the Presby Church, Shiahie in East Legon. The school was established in the year 2006 to provide affordable basic holistic education that hinges on discipline and Christ to children in Shiashie and its surroundings by the Presbyterian Church in Shiashie. The motto of the school “Train Up a child the way he should go” speaks volume of the church and school’s focus on discipline and godly upbringing of their pupils. The school’s current population is 156.
Madam Janet, the acting headteacher informed the Ghanaeducationnews.com and Newsghana24.com that, they trained for two weeks and will from next year to start preparations for the parade. They requested that going forward, chairs and canopies should provide all school children.
The Evangelical Presbyterian School also located at the Mempeasem community came second on the day. The school was established in the late 1970s to educate the children in the Mempeasem community. Mr. Philip Cudjo Azuma is the headmaster of the school known for its high level of discipline, and hard work. The small spark by the school some 12 years ago has now received the full blessing of the Municipal Assembly. From matching across the Mempeasem township to organizing a school-based parade to the organization of a community-based event, the once independence replica parade organized with the support of other schools and head teachers in the public and private schools has now become an important event on the schools and municipal Assembly calendar. The school’s current population is 163 pupils and its motto is “Confidently aspiring to greater heights”
Dzorwulu JHS placed 3rd out of the twenty Schools that participated in the Independence Day parade. The school was established in 1985 and currently has a population of 435 pupils. The school is located Dzorwulu opposite Special ice.
Faith Presby School has earned the bragging rights must continue to work hard since the competition is getting keener and keener each year. We wish all other schools better luck next year and challenge them to work harder next year.
