Methodist Girls SHS has won the 2019 World ROBOFEST which has held in Michigan in the United States of America.
This year’s competition is the 20th edition which had participants from all over the world on one stage to showcase their prowess.
The aim of the event is to help the youth come out with innovative robotic approaches to solving problems facing the world.
At the end of the keenly contested event, the all-girls team from Methodist Girls SHS from Mamfe Akuapem located in the Eastern Region came tops and were declared winners of the 20th edition. When it mattered most, these young lads rose to the occasion and made the Ghana flag fly.
The girls beat teams from the United States, Mexico, Egypt, South Korea and of others to win the competition. The competition commenced on May 16 and ended on May 18 at the Lawrence Technological University (LTU) located in Southfield, Michigan.

The game which is a complete robotic mission gave participants the chance to (Show off projects). Others include the Vision Centric Challenge (Develop robots to solve problems using cameras) and others.
The 2019 edition of the competition aimed at making participants use robotic driven approach to solving problems such as building a robot to arrange boxes according to a Binary Number Given. The binary number is only unveiled after the robots have been impounded. Methodist Girls SHS (MEGHIS) beat the beat all the big schools in Ghana to qualify for the world challenge.
This event is organized every year under the name Robotics Inspired Science Education, (RISE). The Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation founded by Dr. Ashitey Trebi-Olenu are the organizers and the brains behind this laudable idea.
The whole school here in Ghana was charged and electrified when the news came in that, they have triumphed at the world completion and are breaking the trophy and bragging rights home to Methodist Girls SHS (MEGHIS).
